Theatre Forum is now Performing Arts Forum

Performing Arts Forum joins Indigo Share’s Act Green 2025 campaign to highlight audience demand for climate action in the arts

Performing Arts Forum is proud to participate in Act Green 2025, joining a growing movement of arts organisations committed to understanding and responding to audience expectations for climate leadership.

The Act Green 2025 Benchmark Report, released this October by Indigo Share in partnership with Performing Arts Forum, reveals that 92% of audiences and visitors are worried about the impact of climate change, yet only 19% believe cultural organisations place great importance on tackling the climate emergency.

The research suggests that while many organisations are already taking meaningful steps towards sustainability, audiences may not always be aware of this work – highlighting a need for clearer communication and visible leadership on climate action.

Irma McLoughlin, Director of Performing Arts Forum, said:
“This research reinforces what we already know –  audiences care deeply about the climate crisis and expect the cultural sector to take meaningful action. At PAF, we are committed to supporting our members to lead change and embed sustainability in every aspect of their work.”
Katy Raines, CEO of Indigo, who led the research, said:
“This year’s study marks an important milestone: our first Act Green project in Ireland, delivered in partnership with the Performing Arts Forum. Together, we’ve gathered insights from over 3,000 audience members across the country from local arts centres and touring companies to national festivals and museums. Their voices remind us just how much people care, and how much they want the arts to lead with creativity, courage and collaboration.”
Catríona Fallon, Co-Founder, Green Arts Initiative in Ireland, said:
“This report highlights the gap between what cultural organisations are doing to address climate   change and the awareness their audiences have of those actions. Many in the cultural sector are working hard to improve their environmental sustainability, this report should give them the courage and confidence to celebrate it!”
