Luail is hiring two Dance Deputies (Contract)
Luail – Ireland’s National Dance Company is seeking to recruit two Dance Deputies on a contract basis. Ideally, the two candidates will be active in either the North West, The Midlands or the South East.
One of Luail’s core pillars is to embed dance within our cultural ecosystem by making dance accessible to all, regardless of geographical location, background or ability. It is our intention to collaborate with venues, develop networks and engage with diverse communities through meaningful learning and outreach programmes.
We will work to build audience awareness and appreciation for dance across the island of Ireland and to support this work, we are piloting a new model which aims to appoint two ‘Dance Deputies’ on a contractual basis.
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is already working as a dance professional, or in a community-based capacity and who is applying some elements of teaching, engagement, participative work or community development to their practice. They will be based or active in the West/North West, Midlands or South East regions of Ireland and will be expected to work within their locality, to be well connected in the region and skilled at building and sustaining new relationships. within local communities.

Applicants to the two Dance Deputy positions will be from a dance, education or community engagement background, and they may be applying elements of teaching, participation or community development to their work. They will work with the Luail team to attract new audiences and participants for dance in their respective regions; supporting touring productions, delivering participation activities and raising Luail’s profile among local audiences. With an initial focus on the West/North West, Midlands and South East regions of Ireland we anticipate a programme of workshops, talks and engagement experiences with local and touring companies and independent dance artists, connecting with people of all ages and backgrounds and encouraging them to watch, participate in, and learn more about contemporary dance. Luail is dedicated to inspiring audiences and creating opportunities for everyone to engage with dance in diverse and exciting ways.
