For a Canadian performance of a new devised work of dance theatre
PROJECT DETAILS
I am the associate producer for a project in development with Culture Ireland. We are seeking grant funding for a performance to take place in Toronto in January 2027, and in order to finish our application, we would need to have qualified artists tentatively attached to the project.Β The project is a 45-50 minute dance theatre piece that is centred on the relationship between Ireland and Native Americans.
It will unfold in three acts depicting first the Irish famine, then the help given by First Nations Peoples to the Irish followed by the Irish giving covid help to the First Nations Peoples, and finally a celebration of both cultures. If we are given funding, the planning and development will be done remotely, then there will be a 10 day in-person rehearsal / development period in Toronto, followed by a run of performances no longer than 7 consecutive days (exact number yet to be established).
WHO WE ARE SEEKING
We are seeking Irish traditional dancers and dancers from the Huron-Wendat and Choctaw Peoples. There will be 6 dancers in total with 1 Irish traditional dancer and 1 First Nations dancer also functioning as co-choreographers.
HOW TO CONTACT ME
