Weekly Inclusive Arts Sessions
Purple Door is seeking a performing artist or musician to facilitate weekly creative sessions with a group of young people with Down syndrome.

- Day & Time: Tuesdays, 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- Commitment: Weekly
About Purple Door
Purple Door is an inclusive performing arts programme working with young people with Down syndrome across multiple counties. The programme places high artistic ambition, care, and collaboration at its core, creating a supportive environment where participants can explore music, movement, performance, and creative expression.
Sessions are artist-led, process-focused, and adapted to the needs and strengths of each group. Purple Door values curiosity, consistency, and meaningful engagement over performance outcomes.
What the Role Involves
- Facilitating weekly creative sessions for a small group of young people with Down syndrome
- Working with music, sound, movement, rhythm, or performance (depending on your practice)
- Supporting participants’ confidence, expression, and creative development
- Collaborating with Purple Door’s artistic framework and values
- Keeping sessions structured, accessible, and enjoyable
- Attending a monthly check-in meeting with Purple Door to reflect on sessions, share observations, and support artistic development
Who We’re Looking For
- A professional performing artist or musician (all disciplines welcome)
- Experience or strong interest in inclusive or community arts practice
- Reliable, warm, and confident working with young people
- Open to learning and adapting sessions to participants’ needs
- Previous experience working with people with Down syndrome is welcome but not essential.
Garda Vetting & Training
- Garda Vetting is required (supported through Down Syndrome Ireland / Down Syndrome Laois)
- Training and guidance will be provided by Purple Door
- Ongoing support from an experienced inclusive arts team
