Summary Job Description:

The King’s Hospital School is inviting applications for an organist to play regularly during term time. Our newly installed organ, built by Trevor Crowe and Adam Nuzum plays a central role in the Christian life of the school, a rich spiritual and musical heritage that spans over 355 years. A specification list is available on request. This role covers supporting many events and weekly activities including two hours of Organ/Piano lessons.

The Organist will have responsibility for:

• Accompanying daily Chapel assembly, four mornings per week, 8.00am – 9.00am Mon – Thurs.
• The above covers 15 minutes service and choir rehearsals.
• Accompanying the Chapel Choir for Sunday services during term time. Mostly Sunday evenings 7.00pm – 9.30pm
• Occasional Sunday mornings 9.30am – 11.30am
• Accompanying the Chapel Choir at two major external engagements throughout academic term time. Carol Service in St Patricks Cathedral December 2025.  Law Term Service at St Michan’s October 2025.

·       Ensuring care and maintenance of the Chapel organ is recorded.

·       Provide organ/piano lessons for two hours per week.

·       Liaising with the Head of Music to ensure smooth running of required events and activities.

Remuneration:

• €13,100 PA paid in nine monthly instalments of €1,455.55. This salary is favourable to band F of the Church Music Dublin Organist remuneration guidelines.
• Additional opportunities may arise such as tuition hours and will be remunerated separately.
