Allison McKay is a writer, actor and comedian.
She was a finalist in the 2004 Bulmers Dublin Comedy Festival Competition and a semi-finalist in So You Think You’re Funny at the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe.
She was a member of the Fallen Angels Cabaret, which won Best Show in Spiegeltent at the 2004 Dublin Fringe, toured extensively in Ireland and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2006. In 2008, with Kathleen O’Rourke and Gearóid O’Farrelly, she co-wrote and performed in the comedy show My Funny Valentine at Bewley’s Café Theatre and other venues.
She was shortlisted for the 2019 Abbey Begins playwrights’ programme and the Bewley’s Café Theatre Percolate 2 programme. In 2020 she was awarded an Arts and Disability Connect theatre training grant.
Her play Hot Property was selected for the 2019 Scene + Heard festival in Smock Alley Theatre, where it was presented in a rehearsed reading.
